Job summary

Pearson is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead Data Foundations, modernizing and aligning a critical analytics platform for AI-enabled capabilities. You will drive cross-functional delivery across legacy and new stacks, balancing governance, quality gates, and continuous shipping for student and educator-facing products.

You will partner with Product, Security, DevOps, and data teams to set roadmaps, manage risk, and ensure reliable, compliant data services while mentoring engineers to grow

Qualifications

• 4+ years managing engineers who ship to production.
• Experience delivering a model-backed or agentic capability to real users.
• Experience in regulated or privacy-sensitive environments; K-12 FERPA exposure advantageous.
• Ability to manage across legacy and target platforms while maintaining shipping.
• Comfortable leading across distributed teams and time zones.

Responsibilities

• Own planning, prioritization, and delivery commitments for your team.
• Set the operating rhythm and ensure visibility without excessive meetings.
• Hire against AI- fluent bar and maintain it when pipelines thin.
• Ensure guardrails, human-in-the-loop fallback, and disclosure are built into the product.
• Monitor model performance, eval sets, and release gates.
• Coordinate with Product, Data Engineering, Security, and DevOps.
