Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services seeks Medical Support Specialist-EMT professionals in the Lewisville, TX area to ensure donor safety and support plasma collection. You will assess eligibility, monitor adverse events, review test results, and communicate outcomes under physician and management guidance.

Requirements include active EMT certifications (B/A/I/P), CPR/AED, nursing licensure options, and prior clinical/hospital experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B), Advanced (EMT-A), Intermediate (EMT-I), and Paramedic (EMT-P), Licensed Practical Nurse / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN), and Registered Nurse (RN).
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility and manage informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) per SOPs and coordinate medical emergencies including standing orders and donor transport.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation by occupational health/ER is required, with EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemics.
