Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Lewisville, TX is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations under the Center Manager and Center Physician. You will determine donor eligibility, review test results, manage donor safety, and assist with on-site EHS programs.

You'll bring EMT/paramedic or nursing licenses, CPR/AED certification, and a clinical background, with at least two years in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
• Licensed/certified in the responsible state: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, confidentiality, medical history, physical exam, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health evaluation per EHS guidance.
• Possibly serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
