Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in the United States (Joplin, MO) seeks an Medical Support Specialist with EMT credentials to determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, review test results, and notify donors of unsuitable findings. You will operate under the Center Manager and Center Physician guidance within a regulated plasma collection environment.

Qualifications include EMT licensure (B/A/I/P), LPN/LVN, or RN, CPR/AED, and FDA training, plus at least two years in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• EMT licensure/certification in required states (EMT-B/EMT-A/EMT-I/EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN)
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
• FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
• State requirements for basic IV therapy

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and provide appropriate center response.
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies including standing orders and donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings or medical issues.
• Support vaccination programs (Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu) for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents with EHS guidance and determine need for further evaluation.
• Potentially serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
