Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to apply EMT skills in donor eligibility, safety, and plasma collection operations. You will determine donor eligibility, monitor adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests.

This role reports to the Center Manager and collaborates with Medical Affairs. Requirements include EMT licensure/certification (EMT-B/A/I/P), RN/LPN licensure, CPR/AED, and a minimum of two years in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, or RN.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; proper informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical exam, blood testing and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs, including Center Physician standing orders and donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation with EHS guidance.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemics.
