Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist with EMT credentials to ensure donor safety and support plasma collection operations. You will determine donor eligibility, review test results, and manage adverse events under Center Manager and Center Physician guidance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program.
• EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN licensing/certification required.
• Current CPR and AED certification required.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, education, self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical exam, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and physician standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical issues or abnormal findings.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and escalate to occupational health/EHS as needed.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.

Education
