Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is hiring a Medical Support Specialist to determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. You will work under Center Manager guidance and collaborate with Medical Affairs for medical issues.

The role requires EMT credentials, CPR/AED, and clinical experience, with duties spanning donor assessment, adverse events, and vaccination program support.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned (EMT-B/A/I/P, LPN/LVN, RN).
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; to include, informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE.
• Evaluate donor reactions, per SOPs; manage medical emergencies including Center Physician standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance.
• You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
