Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to apply EMT skills in donor safety and plasma collection support. You will assess donors, review tests, and manage adverse events under Center Manager and Center Physician guidance.

The role emphasizes regulatory knowledge, patient care, and collaboration within BioLife and Takeda, with a strong focus on safety and quality in a fast-paced center environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN
• Current CPR and AED certification
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
• FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; manage informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) per SOPs including emergencies and donor transport.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/ER and EHS as needed.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations within the local community.
