Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable findings under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician.

Requirements include licensure (RN/EMT/LPN), CPR/AED certification, and at least two years in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• State-licensed or certified healthcare professional (RN/EMT/LPN) required.
• CPR and AED certifications required.
• FDA-approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training completed.
• IV therapy eligibility per state requirements.
• Minimum two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; inform consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) per SOPs.
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies and form Center Physician standing orders; arrange donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees where applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation; follow EHS guidance.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations per EHS/Medical Affairs.
