Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, review laboratory results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests. The role reports to the Center Manager and works under medical guidance from the Center Physician to support operations.

Requirements include a health care license (RN/EMT/LPN/LVN), CPR/AED, and two years in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Licensed or certified in the state of assignment: EMT-B/A/I, Paramedic (EMT-P), LPN/LVN, or RN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; manage informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs, including center physician standing orders and donor transport.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is needed by occupational health/ER; follow EHS guidance.
• Potential Pandemic Coordinator role as authorized by EHS and Medical Affairs.
