Job summary

West Tennessee Healthcare is seeking an Emergency Medical Dispatcher to join the 911/EMS Communications Center. You will interpret and relay information by phone and radio, instruct callers on life-saving steps, and coordinate with field units to deploy EMS response efficiently.

The role requires mastery of a CAD system, adherence to EMS policies, and availability for varying shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays. Strong communication and typing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Emergency Medical Dispatch program within six months of employment.
• Knowledge of 911 operations and emergency communication centers preferred.
• Two years of prior 911 communications or related public safety experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support certification; EMT-Basic/Paramedic license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, interpret and relay information via telephone, radio and alert systems.
• Instruct citizens via telephone on life saving procedures prior to EMS arrival.
• Monitor and manage CAD system to dispatch appropriate units and resources.
• Maintain shift records and ensure compliance with West Tennessee Healthcare policies and procedures.
