Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking an Operational Technology Engineer to support EMS and DMS networks within the transmission and distribution systems. The role may be mostly remote with occasional on-site work in Greensburg, PA; Akron, OH; Reading, PA; or Fairmont, WV.

You will maintain and enhance EMS/DMS tools, provide technical leadership, and ensure reliable SCADA/real-time operations while collaborating with OT, operations, and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer license or ABET-accredited related degree with advanced EE study.
• Solid computer skills; SQL experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance and support of EMS/DMS network toolset (models, state estimator, powerflow, contingency analysis).
• Understand business functions to deliver scalable, reliable, cost-effective solutions.
• Provide technical leadership for advanced power system applications.
• Manage software configurations and interfaces between systems.
• Coordinate modeling changes per department procedures.
• Provide engineering expertise to ensure SCADA/real-time reliability.
• Maintain dispatcher training simulators and ICCP data exchange with PJM.
• Act as liaison between OT, operations, and engineering.
• Support development of wide-area visualization operator tools.
