Job summary

MISO is seeking a Power System Operations Engineer I to join the Real Time Operations group. You will train to monitor the EMS inputs from SCADA/ICCP, perform contingency analyses, and support reliable operation of the transmission system across the Eastern Interconnection.

The role focuses on building foundational expertise in EMS maintenance, operations discussions, and stakeholder collaboration as you advance into an on-call/shift position. A bachelor’s in EE or related field is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in utility/transmission operations or real-time operations is preferred.
• Programming in C, C++, VBA, Perl or Python is desired.
• Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Learn to maintain the EMS and its inputs for reliability and performance.
• Monitor SCADA and ICCP inputs and support contingency analysis studies.
• Develop familiarity with the MISO footprint and operations processes.
