Job summary

FirstEnergy in Reading, PA is seeking a Distribution System Operator to monitor the regional distribution network, coordinate outages, and support restoration efforts. You will operate SCADA, EMS, OMS, and related systems while maintaining safety and reliability.

The role requires strong problem solving, communication, and teamwork. Candidates must be able to work nights and weekends and reside within 60 minutes of Reading, PA.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or ABET-certified equivalent.
• Experience in lieu of the degree may be considered with at least 4 years of related work.
• Knowledge of Transmission and Distribution operations, practices, and tools.
• Ability to read drawings, schematics, and switching orders.

Responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day operations of the regional distribution system.
• Outage restoration during emergencies with accurate documentation.
• Recommend operational improvements and communicate system events.
• Operate SCADA/EMS/OMS/EDOA and radio/phone systems.
• Analyze disturbances and restore normal configuration promptly.
• Authorize outages and load transfers; direct field switching activities.
