Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy & Education is seeking an Instructional Aide to support students in the Special Education program for grades 6-8. You will collaborate with teachers to implement personalized instruction, monitor progress, and reinforce instructional strategies in both classroom and community settings.

The role emphasizes assisting with IEP implementation, maintaining confidentiality, and contributing to a supportive, high-achieving educational environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent w/ passage of basic skills test.
• Associate degree or higher in education or a related field preferred.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a paraprofessional/educational aide credential preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certification in crisis management training.
• Prior experience providing instruction, guidance and/or support to children; preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.
• Solid experience working with children with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or emotional behavioral disorders.
• Ability to respond calmly in emergencies and make independent decisions.
• Proficiency in motivation, communication, and goal-oriented conversations with students.
• Strong organization, multitasking, problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of instructional technology and basic office software.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to create a supportive learning environment for all students.
• Implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions on-site and in community settings.
• Monitor students during lessons, ensure fidelity, and apply targeted strategies for comprehension.
• Track student progress and communicate findings to teachers.
• Support and mentor students developing academic, community, vocational, and social skills.
• Document student behaviors and performance and offer actionable observations to staff.
• Assist with preparing behavioral reports and daily logs.
