Job summary

Seattle YMCA is seeking a Part-Time Onsite BASE instructor at Syre Elementary. You will guide elementary participants through sports, arts, STEM, and hands-on learning, fostering teamwork and social-emotional skills while promoting exploration, physical activity, and fun.

BASE instructors start 8/24 and work hours vary by location. Requires being at least 16 years old, with 1–2 years of experience with children, and completion of STARS and CPR/First Aid training.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years’ experience with children (camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying).
• Pre-employment TB tests and MMR vaccination as required.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or enrollment in high school/equivalent program.
• Completion of minimum STARS training, CPR/First Aid Training.
• Clear MERIT background check as part of hiring.

Responsibilities

• Implements culturally relevant activities aligned with Youth Development goals.
• Supervises children to ensure health and safety and positive experiences.
• Guides staff/volunteers overseeing groups of children.
• Communicates daily with parents/guardians.
• Follows YMCA policies including safety and abuse prevention.
• Maintains site appearance and cleanliness; may prepare snacks.
• Attends trainings and staff meetings; performs other duties as assigned.
