Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking part-time BASE instructors to guide elementary students in sports, arts, STEM and hands-on activities at multiple Seattle-area schools. Start date around 8/24; hours vary by location, typically 6:45am to start and after school to 6pm, with full-day options on non-school days.

Qualifications

16 years of age or older; 18+ preferred.
1–2 years of experience with children in camps, childcare, tutoring or nannying.
Demonstrate Y values: caring, respect, responsibility, honesty.
Experience planning and implementing group activities.
Pre-employment TB tests and MMR vaccination required; Concentra options available at no cost.
High school diploma or equivalent; enrolled in related program acceptable.
Completion of minimum STARS training; CPR/First Aid Training; background check completed.

Responsibilities

Implements developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum aligned with Youth Development goals.
Supervises a group of children to ensure health, safety and a positive experience.
Provide guidance to staff/volunteers overseeing activities.
Communicate day-to-day information with parents/guardians.
Follow YMCA policies, including safety, abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
Maintain site appearance, décor and cleanliness; assist with snacks and cleanup.
Attend staff meetings and trainings; perform other duties as assigned.
