Job summary

Hensel Phelps in Austin, TX is seeking a skilled Carpenter to construct and repair building frameworks, millwork, siding, drywall, and related elements on active projects. You will read blueprints, lay out materials, and ensure safe, accurate installation as a critical safety-sensitive role.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and strong math and teamwork. OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid certifications are preferred.

• Valid Driver’s License required.

• Must be able to take initiative and ask questions.
• Possess a keen attention to detail and be able to follow instructions.
• Workers must provide their own safety footwear.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co‑workers and stakeholders.
• Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
• Must be reliable and punctual.
• OSHA 10 Certification preferred
• CPR & First Aid Certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with assembly and removal of concrete forms used for concrete installation.
• Assist with building and installing window-frames, doors, doorframes, staircases, stairways, partitions, millwork, trim, siding, drywall, and overall building frames.
• Ensure that layout of flooring, roofing, and drywall are leveled and compatible.
• Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp project requirements.
• Measure and calculate the size and amount of material needed. This includes cutting, shaping, and smoothing wood or other required materials according to requested measurements.
• Assist with handling, transporting, and setting door frames.
• Load, unload, identify and distribute building materials, machinery, and tools.
• Job shadow in area assignments to ensure project knowledge and skill progression.
• Assist with area housekeeping.
• Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards.
