Hensel Phelps in Huntsville, AL seeks an on-site Carpenter Helper to assist with forming, framing, and finishing work on building projects. You will read blueprints, measure and cut materials, and help install windows, doors, stairways, and interior finishes.

Responsibilities include ensuring level layouts, handling materials, and maintaining a safe jobsite. Must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid license, and a willingness to follow safety protocols; OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid are

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program.
• Must be able to take initiative and ask questions.
• Possess a keen attention to detail and be able to follow instructions.
• Workers must provide their own safety footwear.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders.
• Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
• Must be reliable and punctual.
• Preferred: OSHA 10 Certification, CPR & First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with assembly and removal of concrete forms used for concrete installation.
• Assist with building and installing window-frames, doors, doorframes, staircases, stairways, partitions, millwork, trim, siding, drywall, and overall building frames.
• Ensure that layout of flooring, roofing, and drywall are leveled and compatible.
• Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp project requirements.
• Measure and calculate the size and amount of material needed; cut, shape, and smooth wood or other required materials.
• Assist with handling, transporting, and setting door frames.
• Load, unload, identify and distribute building materials, machinery, and tools.
• Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards.
