Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, stocking and daily store operations. You will contribute to recruiting, merchandising, and cash controls while ensuring a safe, well-organized store environment.

This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position, with a limited tenure, and requires strong customer service leadership and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling, cashier accountability, and deposits.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and reporting.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising.
• Knowledge of cash, safety, and facility policies (deposits, keys, etc.).
• Experience with recruiting, interviewing and hiring processes; compliance knowledge.
• Strong written and verbal communication; interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail; problem solving.
• Bilingual Spanish is a bonus for some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and proper signage/pricing.
• Assist in inventory management and prior damages, markdowns, and scanning.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and supervision.
• Adhere to company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of funds and cash control.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store and safe environment.
• Operate store in manager's absence and review performance trends.
• Complete paperwork and documentation per guidelines.
