Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory management, merchandising, and daily store operations. The role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager position and is intended for a limited period.

The candidate will help with opening/closing, inventory controls, and ensuring cash accountability while delivering strong customer service and maintaining a safe, well-stocked store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Retail experience preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to recruit, hire and train qualified applicants.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to supervise staff and manage store operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing according to standards.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and act as a role model.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure cashier accountability, key control and cash handling practices.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
