Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, and daily store operations. This role aims to develop an external candidate for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The candidate will assist with recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, cashier accountability, and ensuring a safe, well-kept store environment. Strong customer service and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions and generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking per manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
