Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in daily operations, including staffing, merchandising, inventory, and cash control. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position and is limited in duration.

You will assist in recruiting, stock management, customer service leadership, and store safety, while modeling company policies and procedures. Travel to nearby stores may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math, including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and report generation.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Awareness of cash, safety and security policies (deposits, keys, etc.).
• Experience with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring processes including legal compliance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; detail-oriented and organized.
• Ability to work in a bilingual Spanish preferred location.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and signage and pricing.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, and cycles.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Open and close store operations as needed.
• Ensure cash controls and security procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, well-stocked store environment.
• Support store manager in reviewing operating statements and trends.
