Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory control, merchandising, and daily store operations. This role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager track and is held for a limited period.

You will assist in recruiting, stock management, reviewing performance indicators, and ensuring financial integrity and safe, well-stocked stores. Weekend/opening/closing duties are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to recruit, interview, hire, and counsel employees, ensuring compliance with laws and internal processes.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and presenting merchandise per store standards.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management, including damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork and controls.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies as outlined in the handbook and SOPs.
