Job summary

VEG is offering the New ER Doctor (NERD) program, a six‑month immersive training path designed to transform practicing veterinarians into exceptional VEG ER doctors. You will work side‑by‑side with experienced VEG clinicians, gaining hands‑on ER experience across a busy, 24/7 hospital network.

The program includes weekly case discussions, literature reviews, and hands‑on training at state‑of‑the‑art facilities, with all CE experiences paid for by VEG.

Qualifications

• A passion for helping people and their pets.
• Be a practicing veterinarian for 1+ years.
• Desire to live and breathe emergency medicine.
• Valid license to practice veterinary medicine and DEA registration.
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, lift up to 25 kg, and assist up to 40 kg.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Relocation for the NERD program may be required.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with VEG doctors, receiving hands-on guidance and mentorship through real ER cases.
• Engage in 3-4 hospital shifts per week (days, swings, nights) and participate in weekly case discussions and literature reviews.
• Gain expertise in client-centered communication and the VEG Way of care.
