Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers the New ER Doctor (NERD) program to transform practicing veterinarians into confident VEG ER doctors. The six‑month program combines academic and clinical teaching with individualized mentorship to transition into full-time ER roles.

Participants engage in hands-on cases, weekly discussions, and advanced training across exotics, endoscopy, and emergency surgeries, all funded by VEG with extensive CE hours and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree and veterinary licensure.
• Practice experience of 1+ year in veterinary medicine.
• DEA registration in the state of start date.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Work with VEG doctors on real ER cases with mentorship.
• Gain ER experience with 3-4 hospital shifts per week (days, swings, nights).
• Participate in weekly case discussions, literature reviews, and hands-on training.
• Learn client-centered communication and the VEG Way.
