Job summary

VEG ER for Pets is launching the New ER Doctor (NERD) program to train practicing veterinarians into confident VEG ER clinicians. The six-month immersive program blends academic and clinical mentorship with hands-on casework, including advanced imaging, endoscopy, and exotics.

Successful participants transition to full-time ER doctors at VEG hospitals, with ongoing mentorship, competitive base salary during the program, and a structured path to higher compensation post-program.

Qualifications

• A valid DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree.
• Be a practicing veterinarian with at least 1 year of experience.
• Hold a valid veterinary license and DEA registration in the start state.

Responsibilities

• Work side-by-side with VEG doctors on real ER cases with hands-on learning.
• Perform ER duties during 3–4 shifts per week (days, swings, nights) and participate in weekly case reviews.
• Deliver client-centered care following the VEG approach and contribute to a team-based ER culture.
