Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) is seeking an EMT to respond to medical calls at Bell County Jail in Belton, TX. The EMT assesses patients, documents medical history, and provides on-site and during-transport care under physician supervision.

The role requires an active EMT-Basic certification and CPR certification, with hourly pay from $15.00 to $25.00 based on qualifications and budget. This is a full-time position in OSI Jail Operations.

Qualifications

• High School equivalent education completed.
• At least 1 year of related experience.
• Active EMT-Basic certification and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care: serves patients under physician direction and within EMT scope.
• Emergency Response: provide emergent, urgent, and routine care and basic life support.
• Patient Assessments: evaluate patients' medical conditions and history.
• Clinical Activity Documentation: document conditions, history and treatments.
• Medication Administration: administer prescribed treatments and medications.
• Provides Clinical Assistance: support physicians during procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

The EMT is on the team that is first to respond to emergency callsfor medical assistance at the Bell County Jail in Belton, TX. The responder assesses the situation, obtains basic medicalhistory and performs a physical examination of the patient, andprovides emergency care at the site as well as during transit tothe hospital.

Major/Essential Functions

• Direct Patient Care : serves patients in the healthfacility under the direction of a physician and within the scope ofpractice of an EMT.
• Emergency Response: Provide emergent, urgent, androutine medical response and basic life support to patients in themedical facility, utilizing CPR and necessary equipment.
• Patient Assessments: Evaluate patients' current medicalconditions, including medical history, current medications, pastmedications, and other treatment services.
• Clinical Activity Documentation: Documents timely,clearly, and concisely; medical conditions and health needs,medical treatment and history, including currently prescribedmedications, and ongoing medical service in the patient's medicalrecord.
• Medication Administration: Administers prescribedtreatments and medications ordered by the provider.
• Provides Clinical Assistance: Provides support forphysicians and/or medical providers during procedures and treatmentprotocols.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.
