Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Belton, TX is seeking a Clinical Assistant to support patient care management under supervision in a clinical and office setting at the Bell County Jail. This role involves clerical and clinical duties, scheduling, and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from an approved, certified program for assistants in the required specialty; certification by an approved certifying agency.

Responsibilities

  • Administers medications and documents as ordered; adheres to facility policy and procedure for medication administration.
  • Measure and record vital signs as ordered; report abnormal vital signs immediately.
  • Assist Providers and nurses with examinations and minor procedures.
  • Create clinic schedules and provide patient data for reporting; manage clinic flow.
  • Prepare examination rooms, clean equipment, and stock clinical supplies.
  • Document patient care activities accurately; follow clinical standards and documentation guidelines.
  • Support infection control and safety practices; use proper PPE and hand hygiene.
  • Willingly accept and complete additional tasks as directed.

Position Description

Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In the clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from a physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In the office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from the department administrator. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions located at the Bell County Jail inBelton, TX, and may be stressful when working under emergency conditions.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Administers medications and documents as ordered. Adheres tofacility policy and procedure for medication administration.
  • Measure and record vital signs: Vital signs, blood sugars, andweights performed as ordered by the provider. Abnormal vital signsreported immediately.
  • Assist Providers and nurses with examinations and minorprocedures: Competently assists with examinations and minorprocedures.
  • Creates clinic schedules and provides patient data forreporting: Manage and updates clinic schedules to ensure efficientpatient flow.
  • Prepares examination rooms, cleans equipment, and stocksclinical supplies.
  • Documents patient care activities accurately: Completesdocumentation promptly and accurately. Follows facility andclinical standards.
  • Supports infection control and safety practices: Consistentlyfollows infection control and safety protocols, including handhygiene and proper PPE use.
  • Other clinical duties as assigned: Willingly accepts andcompletes additional tasks as directed.

Required Qualifications

Visa Information
