Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in San Antonio, TX, seeks a competent nurse for the Emergency and other clinical settings. The nurse works independently, delivering routine and complex care per treatment plans and develops abilities to cope with contingencies in clinical nursing.

Responsibilities include applying the nursing process, administering medications, documenting patient data, and providing education to patients and families. Schedule: 7AM–7PM; Full Time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years combined experience in Emergency Department and a second specialty; 5 years preferred.
• RN license in the state of employment (Texas) required or compact.
• BLS, ACLS, TNCC required; PALS within 30 days of hire.
• TNCC required in Texas and NM only.

Responsibilities

• Uses the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation.
• Administers medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitors effects.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications and care.
• Educates patients and families; assesses learning needs and resources.
• Delegates to other care providers to manage clinical situations.
• Meets nursing standards and competencies; demonstrates leadership.
