Job summary

CHRISTUS Health seeks an experienced nurse for per diem shifts in the Emergency and other clinical settings. The role involves independent nursing care, adherence to treatment plans, and delegation to other care providers as needed.

Responsibilities include using the nursing process, administering meds, documenting care, and educating patients and families. Requires BSN, active RN license in Texas, and multiple certifications with a likely 2+ years ER experience and 5 years preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of combined ER and another specialty (e.g. Med/Surg, Telemetry, IMC or Critical Care).
• 5 years of experience preferred.
• BLS, ACLS, TNCC required in Texas and New Mexico; PALS required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation.
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications and care given.
• Educates patients, families and caregivers on learning needs and resources.
