Qualifications

• 18 years old and completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/ GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent.
• Basic computer knowledge and skills required. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines required. Must demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, writing and listening skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting and be flexible required. Knowledge of medical terminology required. BLS certification included in orientation program; successful completion required prior to first day in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Unit Technicians assist with patient care to support the nursing practice of the unit under the direction of a registered nurse and/or licensed medical professional.
• The Cardiac Unit Technicians provide 24/7 continuous surveillance, analysis and interpretation of patient’s heart rhythm patterns, blood pressure and spO2 for inpatients.
• The ED Technician collaborates with nursing and consultants/providers when patient parameters are abnormal or critical and performs ECGs and splinting as directed.
