Qualifications

• 18 years old or older with 12 college credits OR high school diploma/GED with Nursing Assistant training or equivalent.
• Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
• Excellent organizational, communication, writing and listening skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting and be flexible.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• BLS certification included in orientation; must be completed before first day in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care to support the nursing practice under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed medical professional.
• Carry out designated tasks within the scope of unlicensed nursing personnel.
• Provide 24/7 surveillance, analysis and interpretation of patient heart rhythm patterns, blood pressure and pulse oximetry for inpatients.
• Collaborate with nursing and consultants/providers when patient parameters are abnormal or critical.
• Identify and activate medical emergencies response plans; perform ECGs and splinting as directed in the emergency department setting.
