Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Patient Access/Registration representative in the Lehigh Valley region to coordinate patient registration, verify insurance, and schedule appointments. You will conduct patient interviews by phone and in person to establish accounts and ensure financial clearance in a fast-paced emergency department.

Responsibilities include verifying referrals, scanning documents, collecting payments, and guiding patients to financial resources.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• 1 year of Customer service experience.
• 1 year in a Healthcare environment such as a hospital and/or physician office.
• Computer and typing proficiency.
• Must be able to interact with a diverse customer base, including those seeking emergency services or treatment due to an accident or illness.
• Must successfully pass the required training in two attempts or less.
• Must adapt to change in volumes and demands positively and professionally, effectively managing time and prioritizing tasks.
• Remains calm and resilient in a noisy, high-stress environment.
• Must react quickly in critical situations utilizing critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients using open-ended questions to obtain pertinent demographic and insurance information.
• Engages patients throughout the registration process to create a welcoming patient experience.
• Ensures referring providers' orders are complete and match the appointment scheduled.
• Obtains new orders prior to tests or treatments if incomplete or inaccurate.
• Scans insurance cards, scripts, patient identification and documentation accurately.
• Secures signatures to ensure timely reimbursement and consents for services.
• Determines and collects patient financial liability and creates estimates; refers patients to financial resources as needed.
• Reviews daily schedule to identify conflicts and collaborates for resolution.
• Maintains compliance with registration accuracy.
