Phoenix Children's Hospital, Inc. seeks a Part-Time Clerical Assistant for the Emergency Department to support patient care units with timely information sharing, chart preparation and data entry.

The role greets patients and families, handles phone inquiries, updates charts and routes information to Health Information Management. This position offers unit-based training and opportunities to contribute to efficient patient flow.

Qualifications

• Hospital/healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience with computer data entry or word processing preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage patient information accurately.

Responsibilities

• Assembles patient charts for new admissions and enters admission orders and demographic data.
• Greet patients, families, visitors, and care team; answer calls and route information to HIM.
• Maintain and update orders to chart; transfer charts to HIM; update chart locator database.
• Participate in unit and hospital educational programs to maintain skills.
• Perform chart maintenance for ready accessibility and signature collection as needed.
• Receive, sort, and deliver unit mail, supplies, and inventory; photocopy/files as requested.
• Use criteria for patient bed assignments; consult with Nursing Service Supervisor as needed.
• Work with leadership to examine administrative processes for cost savings.
• Mentor students and new employees; provide guidance and training.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as requested.
