Phoenix Children's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Representative for the Main Campus Emergency Department.

This part-time, days shift role requires efficient patient registration, collection of co-pays and deductibles, and serving as the first friendly contact in a fast-paced, family-centered setting. The ideal candidate will have strong communication, compassion, and attention to detail, with EMR experience and knowledge of payer processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of related office or retail experience with direct customer contact.
• EMR experience preferred.
• HIPAA knowledge and medical terminology understanding preferred.

Responsibilities

• Arrives patients who present for services that have been pre-registered and collects co-pay and deductible amounts.
• Accurately documents information in the system and maintains patient demographics.
• Courteously answers the telephone and answers questions in a timely manner.
• Identifies and refers uninsured patients to the Financial Counselor.
• Checks patient account systems to identify unpaid liabilities.
• Maintains positive relationships with patients, insurers, and staff to promote teamwork.
• Organizes and monitors daily work to ensure compliant registration.
• Participates in training to maintain current skills and competency.
• Performs registration in HIS system and obtains necessary authorizations.
