Presbyterian Healthcare Services is hiring for a Patient Access Advocate I - Emergency Department-CDS. The role registers patients at service time, verifies insurance, collects liabilities, and documents in the ADT system to ensure accurate billing and patient experience.

Responsibilities include using CARES and AIDET tools, educating patients on benefits, and maintaining compliance with CMS guidelines. This is a full-time, night-shift position at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months in healthcare setting or 1 year in customer service preferred.
• Pass 2-week Patient Access Academy with 85%+ within 6 months.
• CHAA/CHAM or similar certification preferred.
• Basic understanding of insurance and medical terminology/billing codes.
• Keyboarding skills, data entry fluency, and MS Office knowledge.
• EPIC proficiency test with at least 85% upon completion.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient registration for self-pay, government and commercial accounts at time of service.
• Obtain/confirm demographics, insurance information, and financial details for account completion.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits with payer or online system.
• Document actions in the system to ensure audit trail and follow-up.
• Maintain knowledge of CMS guidelines for admissions and outpatient services.
