Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, NM is hiring a Patient Access Advocate I for the Emergency Department to register patients, verify demographics and insurance, collect liabilities and ensure accurate billing at the point of service.

Requires basic CMS knowledge, 6 months healthcare or 1 year customer service, EPIC proficiency (85%), and strong customer service skills. The position is full-time with 12-hour night shifts and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

6 months experience in healthcare setting or 1 year customer service background.
Pass 2 week Patient Access Academy with a passing score of 85% or higher (within 6 mos of start).
Basic understanding of insurance and medical terminology.
Requires EPIC proficiency test with 85% score.

Responsibilities

Perform patient registration including demographic data, insurance verification and liability collection at time of service.
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits using online verification or payer contacts.
Document actions in the system and ensure accurate audit trail.
Educate patients on financial responsibilities and available assistance programs.
Maintain compliance with policies, CARES behaviors, and quality improvement activities.
