Job summary

National Public Safety Careers in Brighton, MA is seeking 911 Call Takers to answer emergency and nonemergency lines, confirm incident locations, and document information for dispatch. Required: a high school diploma or equivalent.

Previous customer service or public safety experience helps; dispatch experience is not always required. Training will be provided, and you may work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Customer service, telephone support, or public safety experience is helpful but not always required.
• Strong listening, accurate typing, and clear verbal communication are essential.
• Ability to follow structured procedures is important.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming emergency calls and assigned nonemergency lines
• Confirm incident location and caller’s callback information
• Use approved questions to identify nature and urgency of the situation
• Enter accurate details into call-processing or dispatch software
• Forward incident information promptly to the appropriate dispatch function
• Assist distressed callers with essential questions and instructions
• Use language-access and accessibility resources when needed
• Provide authorized pre-arrival instructions within training
