Job summary

Public Safety Dispatch Network in North Dakota is seeking 911 Call Takers to be the first point of contact for emergencies. You will ask focused questions, confirm locations, and document information for responders while working on a 24-hour operation.

This role may involve rotating shifts and training for both call-taking and dispatch, with opportunities to advance through required certifications and ongoing training. Strong listening, typing, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or commonly accepted.
• Customer service or call-center experience helpful but not always required.
• Strong listening, accurate typing, clear verbal communication, and ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming emergency calls and assigned nonemergency lines.
• Confirm incident location and caller’s callback information.
• Use approved questions to identify the nature and urgency of the situation.
• Enter accurate details into call-processing or dispatch software.
• Forward incident information promptly to the appropriate dispatch function.
• Help distressed callers focus on essential questions and instructions.
• Use language-access resources when needed.
• Provide authorized pre-arrival instructions only within training.
