Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Northridge, CA is seeking a Consultant Embedded Software Engineer (Level 7) to join a multi-discipline team. This role focuses on defining and architecting secure missile weapon system software and requires close collaboration with hardware, firmware, and external partners.

Full-time, on-site position with a US Government Secret clearance; related experience in real-time, multicore SoC platforms and SDLC is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or STEM field and extensive experience in embedded software.
• Strong experience with real-time, multicore SoC platforms and device drivers.
• Proficiency in C++ and at least one additional language (e.g., Java, Python, C#).
• Experience with DSP and hardware/software integration across teams.
• Familiarity with communication protocols (SPI, UART, ARINC, 1553).
• Active government-issued secret clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Translate system requirements into robust embedded‑device software solutions.
• Design, develop, code, test, and debug software for real‑time, multicore platforms.
• Participate in all phases of the SDLC with agile practices.
• Verify requirements against implementation and performance targets.
• Collaborate with hardware/firmware/algorithm teams for integration.
• Produce architectural artifacts and conduct code reviews.
