Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Consultant Embedded Software Engineer (Level 7) to join the Northridge, CA team supporting the Advanced Weapons Business Unit. You will translate requirements into robust embedded software for secure missile-weapon systems, collaborating across hardware, firmware, and algorithm teams.

The role requires on-site work in Northridge with active Secret clearance and a strong background in C++, DSP, and RTOS on multicore SoCs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or STEM‑related discipline required, with related experience.
• Experience in system architecture, hardware, FPGA logic, and software partitioning.
• Strong background in digital signal processing (DSP).
• Expert-level proficiency in C++ and at least one of Java or Python.
• Proficiency with communication protocols (SPI, UART, 1553, ARINC, UAI).
• Full-cycle software development experience across specification, design, implementation, integration, debugging and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Translate system requirements into robust embedded software solutions.
• Design, develop, code, test, and debug software for real‑time multicore platforms.
• Participate in the full SDLC process.
• Verify and validate software against targets and performance.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and algorithm teams for integration.
• Code reviews and mentoring of junior engineers.
• Create architectural artifacts and traceability matrices.
