Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Consultant Embedded Software Engineer (Level 7) to join our Northridge, CA team. You will translate requirements into robust embedded software for real‑time, multicore platforms and work across hardware, firmware, and algorithm teams in an Agile SDLC.

The ideal candidate has a strong DSP background, expert C++ skills, and fluency in at least one other language (Java, Python, or C#). On‑site work and security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or STEM with 16 years of experience, or 14 with a master’s and 12 with a Ph.D.
• System architecture experience across hardware, programmable logic, and software.
• Strong background in digital signal processing (DSP).
• Expert-level C++ and fluency in at least one other language (Java, Python, C#).
• Experience with SPI, UART, 1553, ARINC, UAIFull-cycle software development; spec, design, implement, integrate, debug, maintain.

Responsibilities

• Translate system requirements into robust embedded‑device software solutions.
• Design, develop, code, test, and debug system‑level software for real‑time multicore platforms.
• Participate actively in every phase of the SDLC.
• Verify and validate software requirements against targets.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and algorithm teams; conduct code reviews.
