Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer I (Embedded) in California to develop embedded software for unmanned systems and aircraft.

You will write, test, and debug software for deployment on embedded devices, working across flight test environments to validate performance. You will design and expand software using AeroVironment tools, contribute to system requirements and validation, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to meet timelines and budgets while

Qualifications

• BS degree in a related field or equivalent education/experience.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient with Python, C, C++11, C++ STL, and/or OpenCL.
• Experience with IDEs and defect tracking tools.
• Familiarity with RS-485, RS-232, CAN, I2C, SPI, USB.

Responsibilities

• Writes and tests software to support integration of sensors and embedded processors into aircraft or robotic systems.
• Designs software for prototypes/products using AeroVironment tools and practices; ensure configuration control.
• Assists in writing system requirements and validation tests; helps with hardware selection.
• Supports rapid prototyping and estimation of development time to fit timelines and budgets.
• Works with other engineering disciplines; focuses on completing tasks.
• Supports transition of software to production and certification; participates in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Develops proof of concept and demonstrations; conducts design reviews.
• Follows AV’s software process to develop quality code under supervision.
• Works on problems of limited scope in a learning environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
