Job summary

AV in California seeks an entry-level Software Engineer I (Embedded) to build unmanned and robotic systems for defense and commercial use, writing and testing embedded software for aircraft and payloads. You will design, code, and debug software, following AV's processes and working with a multidisciplinary team.

A BS in a related field and 0–2 years of experience are expected, with proficiency in C/C++, Python, and OpenCL. Knowledge of RTOS and Linux is a plus for this role.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a relevant engineering or computer science field or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with Python, C, C++11, C++ STL and/or OpenCL.
• Experience with Visual Studio or Eclipse and defect tracking.
• Familiarity with common protocols RS-485/232, CAN, I2C, SPI, USB.
• Ability to travel for testing as needed.

Responsibilities

• Writes and tests software to support integration of sensors and embedded processors into aircraft or robotic systems.
• Designs and implements software for prototypes and products with established tools and practices.
• Assists in writing system requirements, test plans, and validation.
• Supports rapid prototyping, estimation, and scope planning with management.
• Collaborates with other engineering disciplines and transitions software to production and certification.
• Develops proof of concept demonstrations and participates in design reviews.
• Follows AV's software development process under supervision.
• Performs in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
