Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking an entry level Software Engineer I (Embedded) to develop software for embedded devices and flights. You will write, test, and debug code for sensors, processors, and prototypes, expanding capabilities to meet program needs.

You’ll work under moderate supervision, follow AV’s software processes, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to transition software to production and certification environments.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a related field is required or equivalent combo of education and experience.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience with embedded software is expected.
• Proficient in Python, C, C++11 and/or OpenCL; familiar with IDEs and defect tracking tools.
• Experience with common vehicle/embedded protocols and mathematical/analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Writes and tests software to support integration of sensors and embedded processors into aircraft or robotic systems.
• Designs and implements software for prototypes and products using AeroVironment tools and practices.
• Ensures configuration control and software management; helps validate software.
• Assists with hardware selection and memory/storage planning for systems.
• Supports rapid prototyping and conceptual testing; estimates development effort and scope.
