Job summary

Coinbase, a remote-first company with quarterly in-person surges, seeks a founding engineer for Compliance to drive high-value automation using generative AI. You will partner with Compliance leadership to surface opportunities, prototype on Coinbase's AI platform, and translate regulatory workflows into engineering requirements.

You will own the automation roadmap, shape build-vs-buy decisions, and ensure auditable, regulator-ready outputs.

Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering in high-stakes environments.
Hands-on deployment of LLM-based applications and prompts.
Ability to translate workflows for engineering teams.
Familiarity with compliance and regulatory concepts.
Experience in RegTech or financial services preferred.
Knowledge of human-in-the-loop design for safeguards.

Responsibilities

Embed with Compliance leadership to surface high-leverage automation opportunities.
Prototype quickly on Coinbase's AI platform and guide build decisions.
Own the Compliance automation roadmap with leadership alignment.
Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling.
Ensure outputs are auditable, traceable, and regulator-ready.
Drive adoption through demos and feedback loops.
