Job summary

WV Department of Human Services is seeking a caseworker to process applications, determine eligibility for SNAP, Medicaid, and other programs, and schedule interviews. You will conduct personal interviews, collect information, and maintain an up-to-date client caseload while referring clients to supportive services as needed.

The role may involve over time in accordance with program requirements and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Substitution: direct client services experience may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
Substitution: customer service, telemarketing, retail or clerical work may substitute for required training on a year-for-year basis.
Alternative substitutions: college coursework may substitute for training on a year-for-year basis (every 30 credits = 1 year).
Experience in Economic Services work requiring program eligibility decisions may substitute for training (1 year equals 2 years).

Responsibilities

Process applications and determine eligibility for SNAP, Medicaid, and other programs.
Schedule and conduct telephone and face-to-face interviews with clients.
Maintain an up-to-date client caseload and refer clients to supportive services.
May obtain repayment from clients who have been issued benefits erroneously.
Perform related work as required.
