Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks an Eligibility Advisor I (Temporary) in Borger, TX. This role supports SNAP, TANF, Medicaid and related programs, performing interviews, data entry, and benefit computations to determine financial eligibility for public assistance.

The position is temporary with a potential transfer to regular status. A high school diploma or GED is required, with 1 year of customer service experience preferred. Telework may be available in some cases.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter hours from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Experience: One (1) year of customer service experience with public contact.
• Ability to use computers and basic office software.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants in person or by phone to determine financial eligibility for public assistance programs.
• Enter data into computer-based eligibility systems.
• Compute and authorize benefits based on eligibility determinations.
• Process work in accordance with state and federal regulations and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
