Police Athletic League Inc. seeks COMPASS School Program Directors to supervise and enhance after-school programming embedded within NYC public schools or PAL Centers. The role focuses on youth development, mental health support, and inclusive practices across day, evening, and weekend hours.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in child development, education, physical education or recreation or related and two years of direct experience with youth under 13.
• NYS Children’s Program Administrator Credential or SACC Credential or 18 college credits + 2 years’ experience.
• Strong planning, supervision and collaboration with partners.

Responsibilities

• Foster social and emotional competencies and well-being in a safe, inclusive environment.
• Manage PAL Elementary School Afterschool Programming including mental health support and inclusion coordination.
• Recruit, hire, and supervise part-time staff and coordinators.
• Ensure program aligns with PAL policies, SACC regulations, and funding obligations.
• Develop a strong Youth Development culture and coach staff on SEL and inclusion policies.
• Coordinate with Principal, Regional Director, SYEP Director, and HQ staff to grow creative programming.
• Collect program data and drive PAL forward with data-driven recommendations.
• Plan and coordinate citywide programs, events, and funding proposals; maintain partnerships with NYPD, NYCPS, DYCD, DOH.
• Provide mediation for on-site issues and respond to time-sensitive mental health needs.
